ANNUAL REPORT JOURNALS

VYK FAMILY DAY

Unforgettable Memories, Family Day
27 September 2008

VYK Family Day, one of the most eagerly awaited events by the Kendra staff, was celebrated this year on 27 September 2008.

The programme began with two-minute silence in memory of Puran Singh, a long-term serving staff of the Kendra, who passed away on 25 September.

Suresh Ambekar, Director, welcomed the staff and families and expressed his happiness on their presence. He announced that the Kendra would bear the educational expenses of the two young children of Puran Singh. A special fund would also be provided to the physically challenged children of two staff members, K.S. Menon and Chandra Pal.

M.V. Rajasekharan, Chairman, Indian Youth Centres Trust, was also present at the event, which made the occasion even more special. He conveyed his blessings and best wishes to the staff and families. He mentioned that the progress of an organisation depends on the working environment provided to its staff but the work efficiency of staff is dependent on the support and care of the family. He summarised that seeing the progress of the Kendra one can very well conclude that the Kendra staff has got both. He congratulated the Director for extending this kind gesture to the entire Kendra family. The Chairman especially appreciated the presence of children and stated that the Kendra’s future will be in the hands of this younger generation.

There were various sports activities such as races, cricket, football, musical chair, etc., for different age groups. With sumptuous food starting from breakfast, the highlight of the day was a magic show, which everyone, irrespective of their age, enjoyed. After the prize distribution ceremony, Suresh Ambekar conveyed his thanks to the families for their active participation and also appreciated the effort of the organising committee in making the programme a successful one. The organising committee consisted of Rajmohan Sharma, Shyamlal, Yogesh Kumar, Umesh Gupta, Venu Gopal and Purnima Saxena.
