FARMERS' MEET
5-8 May, 2008

In the year 2007 – 08, the Kendra organised Agro-based Entrepreneurship Development Programmes in nine states. The main objectives of the programme were to create awareness amongst the farmers about the technological breakthrough in agriculture as well as the programmes, policies and schemes of the government. To evaluate and to assess the impact of Agro-based Entrepreneurship Development Programmes, Kendra organised a 'Farmers' Meet' from 05 – 08 May 2008.

Dr. S. A. Patil, Director, India Agricultural Research Institute, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Eminent Resource persons were: Dr. J.P Sharma and Dr. Rashmi Singh. Both are Senior Scientist, Agriculture Technology Information Centre (IARI). Dr. Sharma spoke on 'Present agriculture scenerio of the Country and SWOT analysis' and Dr. Singh discussed about 'Concept of entrepreneurship and linking of training programme'. Dr. K.P. Vasnik, Director (Training), Ministry of Agriculture shared information on 'Support system and linkages – Programme and schemes for farmers'. Mr. Vikas Kumar, Programme Officer, VYK was the co-ordinator of Farmers' Meet.
Thirty nine participants from Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Maharastra, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh participated in the Meet. Information sharing, interaction amongst farmers, and sharing of experiences made the Meet a successful one.
