Abstract: Youth’s sexual behavior is an important issue in developing countries and their pre and extra-marital sex has been increasing. Bangladesh DHS 2003-04 data were used for understanding the sexual behavior of youth. The analysis suggests that 25% of married and 16.2% of unmarried youth had pre-marital sexual exposure respectively. 5.3% of married youth had extra-marital exposure. Condom use during extra-marital was 8%. One in four youth had discussed about AIDS/STD with partners. About 50% of infected youth sought treatment and of them 28% received treatment from a clinic/doctors. Logistic regression analysis suggested that age, occupation, education, residence and access to media are important determinants of knowledge on HIV/AIDS. Risky sexual behavior is becoming common among youth. Using media campaigns to make youth aware of risky sexual behavior and condom use will contribute to minimizing STDs. Media programs should be developed to address the information needs on sexual health of youth.
