| Abstract: :: In this study an attempt was made to compare male and female students of PUC 1st and 2nd year on stressful life events. A sample of 416 preuniversity students, comprising of 199 male (111 :UC 1st and 88 PUC 2nd year) 217 female (112 PUC 1st and 105 PUC 2nd year) students was selected randomly from five colleges of Bidar city. Stressful life events schedule (Biradar, 2007) was used for data collection. The study revealed that male students of PUC 2nd year experienced more stressful life events in family relations, peer relations and overall stress as compared to male students of PUC 1st year. However, male students of 1st and 2nd year PUC experienced more or less similar levels of stressful life events in academic, physical health and psychological aspects. Correspondingly, both PUC 1st and 2nd year female students experienced more or less similar levels of stress in family relations, peer relations, academic aspects, physical health, psychological aspects and overall stress. The results also revealed that male students of pre-university courses experienced more stressors in family relations, peer relations, academic and overall stress compared to female students. However, both male and female students experienced similar level of stressors in physical health and psychological aspects. | |
