| Abstract: : : Does poverty status, both short and long-term, have an effect on self-esteem for children and does welfare receipt influence these same outcomes? This study is an attempt to seek relationship among poverty, welfare and child self-esteem by employing multivariate regression analysis. Examining the effects of poverty as a series of dummies, no effects on the dependent variable was initiated. The study shows that family education was not significantly related to self-esteem of the children; however, significant negative relationship was established between current welfare receipt and self-esteem of the children. | |
