Understanding the Constitution
Training Programme on the Rule of Law, 26-29 June 2010

A training programme on the
‘Rule of Law’ was organised
in collaboration with
Konrad Adenauer Stiftung from
26-29 June 2010 for the NGO
representatives from the southern
part of the country.
The main objective of the
programme was to make the
participants aware of the Indian
Constitution, Indian Legal and
Judiciary system, its access to the
common man, Right to
Information as well as other
aspects of the Rule of Law.
The programme commenced
with the welcome address by
Suresh Ambekar, Director,
Vishwa Yuvak Kendra and was
inaugurated by Honourable
Justice K.G. Balakrishnan,
Chairperson, National Human
Rights Commission. |

The year 2010 marks the 10th
anniversary of the Millennium
Declaration and 2010 has been
proclaimed by the General Assembly
of the United Nations as the
International Year of Youth: Dialogue
and Mutual Understanding.
To raise young peoples’ awareness
of critical global issues and the
Millennium Development Goals
(MDGs), and to promote active
citizenship by encouraging youth to
get active on the local level for the
achievement of MDGs, a 24-member
delegation from the European Students
Forum (AEGEE), visited Vishwa Yuvak
Kendra on 10 July 2010. They had a
day-long interactive session with 30
youth representing 10 Indian states,
who were participants of Vishwa Yuvak
Kendra’s Certificate Course in Youth
Work, 2010. The theme for the visit was
UN Millennium Development Goals:
A Challenge for Today’s Youth.

In the Field
|
An awareness generation camp
was organised by Vishwa
Yuvak Kendra on 15 May
2010 on ‘Health and Hygiene’.
Information regarding personal
hygiene, antenatal and
immunisation schedule of children
was shared by Dr. Praveen Vashisth,
Dr. Samiksha and Dr. Smita.
Around 100 people from Netaji
Nagar Community took part in
the camp.
