In the year 2008–2009, the Kendra organised Agro-based Entrepreneurship Development Programmes in 12 different States— 24 Parganas (South), Sunderban belt, (West Bengal), Gandhinagar, (Gujarat), District Budgam, (Jammu and Kashmir), Prakasam, Markapur Mandal (Andhra Pradesh), Madhupur District Deoghar (Jharkhand), Niali, Cuttack (Orissa), Buxar (Bihar), Chitrakoot, (Uttar Pradesh), Wada, Thane (Maharashtra), Jhabua (Madhya Pradesh), Purani Basti, Raipur, (Chhattisgarh), Baghchung and Jorhat (Assam). The main objectives of the programme were to generate awareness among the farmers about the technological breakthrough in agriculture sector, programmes policies, government schemes and to motivate them to do farming on commercial lines. |

Fund Raising
27 – 30 March 2010

Vishwa Yuvak Kendra conducted a focused, yet wholesome training programme from 27–30 March 2010 for NGO functionaries to reach the immense source of funds available in the country. The programme was formally inaugurated by Suresh Ambekar, Director, Vishwa Yuvak Kendra, by lighting the lamp. Fundamentals of fund raising and creating a case for support were discussed by Devendra Mishra from Oxfam India. Sudeshna Mukherjee from Oxfam India spoke on proposal writing skills and shared information on corporate fund raising sources. Anup Tiwari, Director, Fund Raising Asia of SOS, discussed with the participants about raising money from individuals. Other two important aspects of fund raising, communications: building and managing relationships and fund raising from government sources were discussed by Aravind Kumar and Sudesh Kumar from the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Women and Child Development, respectively. |
